Assignment #3: In my pursuit for a degree in Health & Wellness I have learned what it takes to utilize a holistic approach to our overall well-being. Below is a link to an assessment matrix using the FITT and PROS Principles. FITT (frequency, intensity, time, and type) are the components to a successful exercise program. PROS (progression, regularity, overload, and specificity) are principles that give the client specifics of their exercise program.
Assignment #4: I hope to shed light onto a hot topic in health and wellness. Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) are found throughout our food system. It is important to know the pros and cons to make an informed decision that fits your goals and ideals for your personal well-being. Please see the link below to my powerpoint presentation on GMOs.
Assignment #5: I was able to turn the tables and become an instructor myself. We were asked to lead a community-based course on CAM professions. We designed a syllabus, course handouts, and even lecture notes. Please see the link below for my course offering which focused on the CAM modalities of meditation, massage therapy, and yoga to help battle stress.
Assignment #7: During my degree program in Health and Wellness I had the opportunity to create this resource guide to help better manage stress and even give some tools to help prevent stress from happening in the first place. The resource guide give some background information on the nature of stress and its physiological and psychological effects on the body. It also goes one step further to provide strategies and methods to create a holistic approach to help your mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-beings.
Assignment#8: Psychological and spiritual aspects are so crucial for an individual's overall wellness. This inventory was created to help individuals better understand the current state of their wellness. The assessment is specifically designed to negate the physical aspect of an individual's wellness. It is my philosophy that, especially during stressful to extremely stressful moments, priority should be placed on spiritual, mental, and emotional well-being prior to consideration of the physical component of wellness. It is the hope of this inventory that individuals are able to be introspective in regard to their overall wellness.
